Railroad Radio Frequencies for Central Florida

Back to Central Florida Train Watchers Guide

These radio frequencies are used by most railroad activity in Central Florida. For those of you who
have an available police scanner to use while train watching, I strongly recommend the below frequencies.
The redman frequencies are the beacons (often with little red lights) at the front and rear of the train
that are used to transmit information about the trains air pressure (braking) system to the engineer. This
data usually sounds like a strange beeping sound. When you hear it, there must be a train with 2 or 3 miles or less.
The state of Florida does have laws concerning scanners, especially in vehicles, I recommend you check these laws before
using a scanner in a vehicle.
